Isle of Dogs

"Endlessly inventive animated tale of outcast dogs is a career highpoint for writer-director Wes Anderson." - Film Journal International

In a dystopian future, an outbreak of canine flu has led to all dogs in Japan being quarantined to a “garbage island.” Stuck sifting through trash, five disgruntled dogs are ready to make a break for freedom, when a young boy named Atari appears on the island, looking for his dog Spots. Atari’s quest leads the dogs on a journey across the island, bringing them up against the authorities, evil robots, and more.

Nine years after wowing audiences with FANTASTIC MR. FOX, acclaimed director Wes Anderson (THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS; THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL) returns to animation with the typically offbeat ISLE OF DOGS. Anderson’s signature style is in full swing in this whimsical tale, rendered in stunning stop-motion animation - and this time, it’s got talking dogs.

ISLE OF DOGS’ voice cast is a who’s-who of movie stars and beloved character actors alike. Led by Bryan Cranston, Greta Gerwig, Edward Norton, Frances McDormand, Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson, Jeff Goldblum, Tilda Swinton, Ken Watanabe, and Yoko Ono, it’d almost be easier to list who isn’t in it. With top-notch voice talent, beautifully hand-crafted animation, and Anderson’s trademark wit, ISLE OF DOGS is a dumpster-dive you’ll definitely want to take. - Alamo Drafthouse
