Cult Cinema

Don asked: "I was just wondering if any of the cult cinema movies are presented in 33mm film? If so, which ones, and at which times. Thanks."

These are all DCP presentations, Don. Unfortunately, no distributors in Canada have 35mm film prints anymore. If it's any consolation, over the years the Princess presented all of these films in 35mm, many times. Hopefully you were able to see some of them in the past!
We share your appreciation for 35mm, but the reality is, a lot, if not most, of these old 35mm titles would come to us in very poor shape, indeed. Over our 30 year history, we've always been committed to playing cult and classic titles, but it would be disheartening when we'd receive older films in less than ideal playing conditions: brittle film with bad splices, scratches --and perhaps the worst-- faded colour. Sound on old 35mm film would often be poor, and when the colour had faded, the film would look all red. While we miss 35mm, we don't miss any of that!
