ICEBOX (2018) tells the story of Oscar, played by Anthony Gonzalez ("Coco"), a 12-year-old Honduran boy who is forced to flee his home and seek asylum in the United States, only to find himself trapped in the U.S. immigration system. Rated 100% by Rotten Tomatoes, this is a must-see film!

Experience the unique opportunity to engage in an interactive Q&A period following the movie. It will be an evening filled with humanity that will open the door to the crude realities that are more than "just headlines"...

Join us for an evening of learning and knowledge sharing as we watch the film. Hear the story of former asylum seeker, and find out the results of a Waterloo Region based public opinion survey about refugee claimants conducted by the students. You will also have the opportunity to engage student researchers about asylum relevant topics like immigrant detention, border crossing, the economic impacts of asylum seeker integration and the Federal government's current policy positions on the right to claim asylum in Canada.

Hope to see you there! Family friendly
