Late Night

"The deliciously entertaining Emma Thompson and Mindy Kaling take center stage in a comedy about women in a male-dominated world. Laugh-until-you-cry and witheringly funny, often even keenly skewering." - Rolling Stone

A heartfelt, hilarious look at late night TV.

Writer and producer Mindy Kaling is at the top of her game in this timely send up to women in the entertainment industry.

Late Night host Katherine Newbury (in a role only Emma Thompson could play) is up against ratings that are making her feel old, tired, and on the verge of being fired. Desperate to save her show, she turns to her crack team of all-white, all-male writers and realizes that she needs to make a change, fast. In comes her newest hire, Molly (Kaling), the first and only female staff writer who may just be the splash of color Katherine needs to reinvent her image and reclaim her throne as the Queen of Late Night.

With a thoroughly lovable supporting cast that includes the likes of John Lithgow, Reid Scott, John Early, and Paul Walter Hauser, Late Night brings a laugh with every jab. However, it's the women up front – including director Nisha Ganatra (who directed and produced Transparent) – that turn an otherwise difficult subject into a heartfelt, relatable, and incisive account of what it's like to be a token in the writer's room.

"Funny as hell, and with something to say."
