The Banff Mountain Film Festival is an international film competition and an annual presentation of short films and documentaries about mountain culture, sports, and environment. It was launched in 1976 as the Banff Festival of Mountain Films by the Banff Centre and is held every fall in Banff, Alberta. The 2019/2020 Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour brings films from the 44th annual Banff Mountain Film Festival to more than 40 countries. From an exploration of remote landscapes and mountain cultures to adrenaline-fueled action sports, films in this year’s world tour are sure to captivate and amaze the explorer within you.
In 1986, the Princess Cinema brought the Banff Mountain Film Festival to Waterloo Region audiences for the first time and we continued to host it annually and build its audience year after year. We are thrilled to host Banff once again! The films featured in the Banff Mountain Film Festival Fall program are ALL NEW and have not been screened previously.
