FILMS SHOWING Friday Jan 11 to Thursday Jan 17

We sell advance tickets for all our shows!

Green Book continues to be a favourite, not just with audiences and critics, but with awards bequeathers. It won more Golden Globes than any other nominated film, and we expect Oscar will be just as generous. The Favourite also came up big at the Globes, with a Best Actress win for the wonderful Olivia Colman in her turn as Queen Anne. Speaking of Queens... once again we have been denied Bohemian Rhapsody at the Original. Ever so sorry, folks, it is still playing at Landmark Waterloo. If you simply must see it, see it there, but, know that we DO plan on playing it! We think you should wait. In its place we have added screenings of Mary Queen of Scots

"Lanthimos' renegade deviltry turns a period piece into a bawdy, brilliant triumph. Expect Oscar to bow down to Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz and the mighty Olivia Colman as Queen Anne for bringing a #MeToo punch to 18th-century British politics." - Rolling Stone

Oscar Winner: Best Actress, Olivia Colman. "The Favourite is a bawdy, brilliant triumph, directed by Greek auteur Yorgos Lanthimos with all the artistic reach and renegade deviltry he's known for.

"Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie command the screen in this delicious anti costume drama .... a sly, smart feminist parable that resonates for us today" - Associated Press

“Is there room for two queens on a single island? The answer, according to Mary Queen of Scots, is “not quite.” The monarchs in question are Mary, played by Saoirse Ronan, and her cousin Elizabeth I, played by Margot Robbie. The history books cast them as bitter rivals, but the film imagines them as long-distance frenemies.

"Dafoe's elegiac quality hints at why the artist was ahead of his time: because he saw more than anyone else could. It's a towering performance in a movie that casts a magnetic spell." - Minneapolis Star Tribune

“That dude could paint! There are biopics of artists that don’t ask more of an audience than that simple reaction. Not so with Julian Schnabel’s extraordinary At Eternity’s Gate, which features a monumental, career-best performance from Willem Dafoe as Vincent Van Gogh.

"This movie has everything: a swept-off-your-feet romantic fantasy, an underdog-makes-good journey, a wrenching substance abuse drama, and an industry cautionary tale combined." - Buzzfeed News

Nominated for 8 Oscars, incl. Best Picture; Actress; Actor; Supporting Actor... Golden Globe Winner: Best Song. “Actor-turned-filmmaker Cooper and his co-star, Lady Gaga, make for inspired collaborators, doing much more than play the star-crossed lead couple.
