This weekend we open Jim Jarmusch's new film, The Dead Don't Die. We have been playing Jarmusch's films since we opened in 1985 (we've practically grown up together) so it's always a treat when he has a new film, and this one looks incredible! New at the Original is Photograph, a wistful and funny story of a struggling Mumbai street photographer who, after being pressured to marry by his grandmother, convinces a shy stranger to pose as his fiancée during a family visit. Keep scrolling to see what else we have in store this week. There's a contest at the end!

"Jarmusch has brought the B-movie zombie flick back from the dead: this is a disarmingly intelligent riff on politics, parodies, and the futility of it all." - Film Inquiry

"Jim Jarmusch addresses the state of the nation and global ecological catastrophe in this deadpan zombie apocalypse movie that goes straight for the jugular by placing Steve Buscemi's racist farmer in a MAGA-style cap that simply states 'Keep America White Again'.

"All Is True is just what you would want for a Shakespeare biopic directed by Kenneth Branagh - it's touching and impeccably well-acted, with great turns from the director and on-screen wife Judi Dench." - Daily Mirror (UK)

"When it comes to Shakespeare movies, you know you’re in good hands with Kenneth Branagh. In All Is True, the British actor and director does double duty in front of and behind the camera, speculating about the Bard’s bittersweet final years. This handsome film is wondefully acted and clearly made with no shortage of compassion and love.

“Joyful in all the best ways. It’s completely and utterly beautiful.” -Alex Billington, First Showing

Many of us have fantasized about it; cutting ourselves off from the hustle and bustle of the big city and escaping to a “simpler” life out in the country. But as much as we’d like to get closer to nature, nature is not always the most welcoming host.

"To make a movie so bad it's good you need vision, drive, luck and obsessive vanity. Fortuitously Tommy Wiseau appears to possess all of these qualities, combined with a total lack of acting talent." - The Guardian

Celebrate 20 years of The Room!

“Tommy Wiseau’s The Room may be the first true successor to the Rocky Horror throne.  Wiseau's Johnny is the noblest of boyfriends and most capable of lovers. But none of that satisfies his fiancée Lisa, a wicked Jezebel whose boredom with Johnny manifests in a brazen affair with his best friend.

"A richly evocative and entertainingly anecdotal overview of the 1960s Laurel Canyon music scene."- Variety

“Tightly framing the Los Angeles music scene with a focus on the mid-'60s emergence of folk rock in the city’s storied Laurel Canyon district, Echo in the Canyon deftly captures the diversity of influences that launched groundbreaking bands like The Byrds, The Mamas & the Papas and Buffalo Springfield to international acclaim.

"The Souvenir doesn't get under your skin. It clasps your hand tightly, and when it finally lets go, you will feel its absence." - Austin Chronicle

“Watching the films of Joanna Hogg, a late-blooming British master, is like watching a blank canvas become a work of art. Start with small details. Add in impressions and feelings. Build visual elements stroke by stroke, until near the end, the big picture emerges almost in real time, with full impact.

"There's a compelling mystery at the core of Invisible Essence: The Little Prince. But more than anything, it will inspire you to pick up that dog-eared copy of the novella you've had since childhood." - Globe & Mail

“Charles Officer’s Invisible Essence: The Little Prince is a gentle, loving consideration of the legacy of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s beloved book.
