With the holiday season just around the corner, we thought we would take a second to remind you about our Private Bubble Cinema. Rent out the entire cinema for your family & friends to catch a movie this Christmas.

Some of 2020's best indie films are arriving at the Playhouse this week, with the much anticipated LGBTQ romance period-piece, Ammonite. The film stars Kate Winslet & Saoirse Ronan and the chemistry between them is some of the best we've seen on-screen this year. Reviews for the film are pointing towards another Oscar for Winslet: "As fossil-hunter Mary Anning, Kate Winslet gives probably the performance of her career." And of course, Saoirse Ronan is always outstanding, so you can be sure she'll be noticed, too.

The Climb, which is new this week feels like an Alexander Payne film. There hasn't been a film about male friendship this fresh since 2004's Sideways and we're really excited to be able to bring it to the Playhouse. "You realise that what you're watching is an epic disguised as scuffed indie comedy, a portrait of adult friendship in which no one ever completely grows up." - Financial Times

There's a Friday the 13th this week and we're celebrating with the horror film, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter. Get tickets!

Still have politics on the brain? We do! It's the perfect time to take in political classics, Dr. Strangelove & All The President's Men on the big screen. Two films that prove incompetence in politics is nothing new! ;)

If you're looking for a totally different kind of cinema experience this week, check out either The 3rd Annual NY Cat Film Festival (a bunch of short films featuring our favourite feline friends) or, the cult-classic, Tammy and the T-Rex. This film might be your new favourite cult movie: "A teen (Denise Richards) learns that a scientist (Paul Walker) implanted her dead boyfriend's brain into an animatronic dinosaur." We're wondering, teenage hormones?

Before you go, check out our new online merch store here. It's the perfect place to get yourself or someone you know a Playhouse tee, pin, art work and more.

"Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan have both shown exceptional range, depth, and intensity on screen, but Ammonite reveals new colours. In this story of a visionary scientist and the young woman who changes her life, these two stars deliver performances of raw electricity."

“If any other director had optioned Peter Bryant's 1958 novel about inadvertent nuclear conflict, it would doubtless have become an earnest Cold War thriller, wagging a sober finger at the folly of war.

One of the best films of all time. The screenplay by veteran screenwriter, Herman Mankiewicz --"MANK"-- won its only Oscar.

Orson Welles' first feature film -- which he directed, produced, and co-wrote, as well as playing the title role -- proved to be his most important and influential work, a ground-breaking drama loosely based on the life of William Randolph Hearst which is frequently cited as the finest American film ever made.
