FILMS SHOWING Friday Nov 25 to Thursday Dec 1

A helpmate, a handmaiden, a huntress and a Harvard symbologist. Two new premieres at the Princess this week: 'The Carer' features the marvellous Brian Cox as a cantankerous old thespian who isn't remotely ready to go gently into that good night; and 'The Handmaiden' is a must-see for anyone who loves smart, sexy, stunning and sumptuous cinema. 'The Eagle Huntress' continues its stellar run at the Original (note that we've added a daily matinee at the Twin, starting Friday). Also new to the Twin is the third installment of the Dan Brown/Da Vinci Code series, 'Inferno.' Tom Hanks and Felicity Jones star, Ron Howard directs, and gorgeous European locations shine in this old-fashioned Hollywood "popcorn" thriller. Something for everyone! Please keep scrolling to discover more must-see cinema!

PG

"A barnstorming Brian Cox is the star attraction in The Carer, a sentimental, old-fashioned drama pitched somewhere between Sunset Boulevard and Ronald Harwood's The Dresser." - Daily Express

"Brian Cox gives a wonderful performance in The Carer, an enjoyable comedy drama about two people who form an unlikely friendship. The Scottish star plays Sir Michael Gifford, a retired Shakespearean actor who is suffering from a degenerative form of Parkinson's disease.

"Deliciously perverse, delightfully twisty, and unapologetically erotic." - James Berardinelli, ReelViews

“Expectations are fully met in Park Chan-wook’s exquisitely filmed The Handmaiden (Agassi), an amusingly kinky erotic thriller and love story that brims with delicious surprises, making its two-and-a-half hours fly by.

"'The Eagle Huntress' is all at once an inspiring story for children of all ages to believe that they can do anything, a reflection of the unfairness of gender roles and a rare and unique look at a remote part of the world." - New York Daily News

"It seems impossible to conceive of training wild eagles, with their seven-foot wingspans and razor-sharp talons, yet the Kazakh people of Mongolia have been doing so for centuries. For 13-year-old Aisholpan Nurgaiv, participating in this sacred practice means being the first female in twelve generations of her family to become an eagle hunter.

"This third film in Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code franchise is filled with plot twists and surprises, always relying on the solid central presence of Tom Hanks, whose credibility and vulnerability is an asset to any film." - Daily Mail

"Inferno is a Tom Hanks thriller, a Florence-set travelogue and a rare thing in cinema history — the third part in a movie franchise that’s actually better than the preceding instalments.

No screenings currently scheduled.

14A

"Emily Blunt digs so deep into the role of a blackout drunk and maybe murderer that she raises 'Girl' to the level of spellbinder." - Rolling Stone

"The Girl on the Train tells the story of Rachel Watson (Emily Blunt), a divorcee who passes the time during her commute fantasizing about an attractive young couple who just so happen to live down the street from her ex-husband.

No screenings currently scheduled.

"'The Accountant', which stars Mr. Affleck as a math savant/marksman/martial artist who uncooks books and kicks backsides, is an effective and even affecting pop thriller." Wall Street Journal

"In The Accountant, a pulpy, peculiar and half-camp thriller that is something other than by-the-numbers, we have Ben Affleck as a bone-breaking bean-counter who is also autistic. Well, we call it autism. Director Gavin O’Connor and screenwriter Bill Dubuque might call it awe-tism, for Affleck’s Christian Wolff is a spreadsheet savant and a butt-kicker.

No screenings currently scheduled.

PG

"Efficient and effective in Eastwood's experienced hands, 'Sully' has interwoven a crisp and electric retelling of the story of the landing we know with a story we do not." - Kenneth Turan, LA Times

"The moment Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger safely landed his Airbus A320 on the surface of New York City's Hudson River, it became a foregone conclusion that someone was going to make a movie about Sully. That that person turned out to be Clint Eastwood should come as no surprise.

"To make a movie so bad it's good you need vision, drive, luck and obsessive vanity. Fortuitously Tommy Wiseau appears to possess all of these qualities, combined with a total lack of acting talent." - The Guardian

Celebrate 20 years of The Room!

“Tommy Wiseau’s The Room may be the first true successor to the Rocky Horror throne.  Wiseau's Johnny is the noblest of boyfriends and most capable of lovers. But none of that satisfies his fiancée Lisa, a wicked Jezebel whose boredom with Johnny manifests in a brazen affair with his best friend.
