FILMS SHOWING Friday Sept 2 to Thursday Sept 8

This Friday we open the best-reviewed film of the year, 'Hell or High Water.' Critics are abuzz over this neo-Western starring Jeff Bridges and Chris Pine, and some are begging movie-lovers to see it opening weekend! We couldn't agree more, so we're opening the film at both the Original and the Twin to ensure it plays 4 times daily for its opening week. Make sure you check both cinema listings to find your preferred time slot.

Another special mention goes to Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds' new feature film, 'One More Time With Feeling.' This one-time-only, unique event will be happening in 1000 cinemas world-wide on Thurs. September 8th, and the Princess Twin is one of them! Music fans will want to be part of this experience. Interestingly, the director of 'One More Time With Feeling' told Indiewire that one of his inspirations was the classic Bob Dylan film, 'Don't Look Back,' which plays the Original Sept. 11th as part of our Rock in Cinema series. Never a shortage of fantastic films to watch at the Princess. Hope to see you at some of them!

"A genre film that transcends genre, an iconic American tale that is nonetheless firmly grounded in both place and time. One of the best movies of the year." (The Atlantic)

6th week!Hell or High Water is a thrillingly good movie — a crackerjack drama of crime, fear and brotherly love set in a sun-roasted, deceptively sleepy West Texas that feels completely exotic for being so authentic.

"Streep is right there, solidly invested in the folly of Florence's dreams. When she declares that 'music has been, and is, my life,' you believe her." - New Yorker

"Meryl Streep plays wealthy New York socialite Florence Foster Jenkins. The real life woman was a patron of the city’s opera scene in the 1930s and 1940s. Once in a while, she would sing at small events, and those invited would politely praise her. But Jenkins couldn’t sing a lick. For some reason, Jenkins decided in fall 1944 to put on a concert at Carnegie Hall.

"It's a rare movie that asks such big questions - about parenting, about family, about modern-day America - and comes up with answers that are moving and meaningful, that make you laugh and cry." - Philadelphia Inquirer

"Viggo Mortensen is at the top of his game in this soulful family dramedy, shot through with humor and heart. Written and directed with scrappy grace by Matt Ross, Captain Fantastic takes turns you don't see coming.

"This remake of the 2013 Argentine-Brazilian film Corazón de León was a huge hit in France"..."Makes terrific use of Jean Dujardin's prankster appeal." - Irish Times

“Prince Charming is 20 or so inches shorter than expected in 'Up for Love', Laurent Tirard's story of a woman struggling to accept the bemused looks she gets when out on the town with her new boyfriend (Jean Dujardin, Oscar winner for The Artist).

"Whit Stillman and Jane Austen are a match made in comedy rapture." - Peter Howell, Toronto Star

"I can’t choose whether “Love & Friendship” is the best Jane Austen film I have ever seen, or the best I could ever hope to see. Which is better, the cast’s elegant character work or the charm and wit of writer/director Whit Stillman’s overall control? Is it more dangerous to laugh yourself silly or applaud to the point of bruised palms?

"One of the most inventive, absurd, and fascinating films you will ever see." - HeyUGuys

"It seems safe to say there will be no crazier film this year involving major actors than this existential love story. And maybe no more beautiful one, either.

Special Presentation - Advance Tickets - "This is a virtuosic piece of filmmaking art that also happens to be almost unbearably moving." (The Playlist)

"Nick Cave invited filmmaker Andrew Dominik to direct this documentary about the making of his band’s new album, ‘Skeleton Tree’. It’s partly an artful and tenderly crafted showcase for the new music as we watch the Bad Seeds perform seven songs in a studio.
