Mar 15-21: Mads Mikkelson in Arctic & Some Special Guests at the Playhouse!

This Friday we premiere the stone-cold amazing new survivalist thriller starring Mads Mikkelsen, ARCTIC. We love everything this Danish actor does and the reviews for it have been stellar. Another highly anticipated screening happening is THE ROOM with Greg Sestero (aka "Mark"/ author of The Disaster Artist) in attendance on Sat Mar 16. This event is SOLD OUT! Don't forget your spoons! (Note: Greg is presenting The Room in Waterloo on Fri Mar 15 and tickets are still available.) We have more special appearances at the Playhouse this week: the producer and director of YOU ARE HERE: A COME FROM AWAY STORY will be in attendance for a Q&A at two of the screenings of this touching documentary. Also playing: Studio Ghibli's SPIRITED AWAY (Sunday & Tuesday), LORDS OF CHAOS (based on real events that happened in the Norwegian Black Metal scene) and a special, one-night-only presentation of the WOMEN'S ADVENTURE FILM TOUR. With Friday, Mar 15 being the final day of our $5 March Break matinees, we think we have something for everyone this week. Hope to see you soon!

“This story sure has legs – and why shouldn’t it? The way the people of Gander, Newfoundland, opened their hearts to travellers rerouted to their town during the 9/11 attacks on the twin towers is the perfect emotional foil for the brutal violence of that day.

“Studio Ghibli has produced one animated classic after another, but Spirited Away  is the one that goes into the vault. Part fantasy, part adventure, part dream, and part metaphor, Hayao Miyazaki's masterpiece follows a 10-year-old girl who's forced to work in a extra-dimensional bath-house for ghosts and demons after a mysterious spell turns her parents into pigs.
